Introduction to Painting: Oil, Watercolour and Acrylic The course offers a gradual introduction to painting, with a particular focus on oil, watercolour and acrylic techniques. Each student will be guided according to their own level of experience. For beginners, we will start by learning about the basic materials: brushes, colours, supports (cardboard, canvas, board), thinners, oils, wax, binders and varnishes. We will start with graphite and pastel drawing to become familiar with shapes, light and colours (primary, secondary and tertiary). We will then move on to painting techniques: Oil: fat over lean, glazing, colour blending, texture. Watercolour: transparency, shading, wet-on-wet/dry. Acrylic: rapid layering, textural effects, mixed media. Each phase includes practical exercises on themes such as still life, portraiture, landscape and abstract composition, to develop technique and creativity.
